On January 13, 2026, the Working Meeting on the Revision of the National Standard for Polycarbonate (PC) Films and Sheets was successfully held in Suzhou. The meeting was hosted by the Subcommittee on Plastic Daily-Use Products of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastic Products and organized by Suzhou Omay Optical Materials Co., Ltd. Representatives from industry associations, leading enterprises, and the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain gathered to chart the course for the revision of the GB/T 35450-2017 standard and to empower high-quality industry development through standardization.
As high-performance engineering materials, PC films and sheets are widely used in key fields such as consumer electronics, automotive components, optical equipment, and new energy, owing to their excellent comprehensive performance. In recent years, the domestic industry has developed rapidly and the import substitution process has accelerated, but the current standard can no longer keep pace with technological iteration and market demand, making revision urgently necessary.

The meeting was chaired by Peng Yongjie, Secretary-General of the Subcommittee, who delivered an address. She clarified the revision process, objectives, and core requirements, emphasizing that the standard must be grounded in industry realities while balancing scientific rigor, standardization, and forward-looking vision, so as to support the standardized and internationalized development of the industry.
Ren Yueshang, Chairman of Suzhou Omay Optical Materials Co., Ltd., the lead unit, stated that domestic PC films and sheets have achieved breakthroughs in technology and production capacity. Suzhou Omay will earnestly fulfill its leading responsibilities, work with industry peers to build consensus, complete the revision task with high quality, and enhance the industry's core competitiveness.
Zhou Jiahua, Secretary-General of the Board and Sheet Materials Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, suggested benchmarking against international advanced levels with unified standards as the core, optimizing performance indicators and test methods, and incorporating advanced industry achievements. He called on all parties to actively offer suggestions and build a solid foundation for domestic products going global.
Participating representatives held in-depth discussions on core topics such as product classification optimization and indicator upgrading, reaching a preliminary consensus and laying the foundation for subsequent work. This meeting will help align standards with industry realities, fill existing gaps, guide the industry toward standardization, high-end development and internationalization, and inject momentum into high-quality industrial development.
